In Maryland, Male Student Suspended for Wearing a Skirt

Warren Evans, an openly bisexual student at Calvert High School, was suspended for wearing a skirt, [allegedly] violating the school’s dress code.

Evans says the school is discriminating against him and does not believe he violated any dress code.

“I don’t think so. Why not? It didn’t say anywhere in the code of conduct or dress code that says boys can’t dress like girls,” Evans commented.

The school district’s dress code policy states schools can regulate dress or even hair lengths.

Students at the school told News4’s Shomari Stone that female students wear skirts of the same length that Evans wore, but they were not suspended.

School officials will not comment on the suspension. They did say the dress code applies to all students, regardless of gender.

Public schools being used for taxpayer-sponsored gender policing. Just warms your heart, don’t it?

Well, Calvert Hall is a private school funded by tuition and donations.  They don’t receive any government funding.  He is also totally out of dress code, for males or females.  The school is technically following their policy.  That doesn’t mean I don’t think their policy is bullshit

That being said…

This high school was one of my High Schools rivals and let me just say, this kid had to be brave as fuck to do this.  There was not a single openly homosexual student in my entire school, due to what I can only assume was fear of very harsh ridicule.  Considering how badly I was harassed for suggesting that homosexuals should be treated equally as their counterparts, I can’t imagine what an openly homosexual or bisexual student must go through in these groups of schools.

Hahahahahaha Calvert high. He was probably suspended for his own safety. I have longtime family friends from that area and let me say—love y’all but there’s a wee bit of prejudice afoot
